Below are notes to a sermon preached Sunday morning, May 25, 2003, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, Albany, Georgia.
THE BIBLE IS ABOUT JESUS
By Michael D. O’Neal Pastor, Gospel Light Baptist Church Albany, Georgia
Scripture Reading: Luke 24:13-32
Text: Luke 24:27
Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
Introduction: The Lord took two discouraged disciples turned their depression into delight, as He opened their understanding of the scriptures, pointing out in the Old Testament how all of the scriptures pointed to HIM:
Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
The Bible says that after the time with the Lord, the disciples understood who Jesus was:
Luke 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
Oh, how we need to exchange our own despair for delight and our own discouragement for devotion! May God also cause OUR hearts to burn within us this morning! May our Lord talk with US by the way this morning! May the Lord open to US the scriptures, as I remind us all once again in ALL the scriptures the things concerning Jesus Christ.
