Scripture Reading: Psalms 126:1-6
Text: Psalms 126:6
Psalms 126:6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Introduction: I want to talk to you once again this morning about soul-winning.
Soul-winning is
The Mind of Christ – He wants people to be saved.
The Meaning of the Church – We are here to reflect the light of Christ to a dark world.
The Mission of the Christian – It is every Christian’s responsibility to be a soul-winner.
These two verses may not be talking directly about New Testament soul-winning, but the God who wrote both Testaments certainly worded them in such a way that we can see 7 great New Testament truths about soul-winning from them.
I. THE PROMISEPsalms 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
A. It is a certain promise
B. It is a cheerful promise
C. It is a conditional promise
II. THE PROBLEM“He that goeth”
Matthew 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
A. It is the Father’s problem
1. He is willing and wanting us to go
B. It is the field’s problem
1. It is white and waiting for us to go
C. It is the flesh’s problem
1. It is wrong and weak about going
III. THE PASSION
“and weepeth”
Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
A. The Lord sees your concern and empowers your witness
B. The lost see your concern and embrace your witness
IV. THE POWER
“precious seed”
Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
A. It is the seed of God
1. A miracle!
2. The new birth is a SUPERNATURAL event!
B. It is the seed of the gospel – a message (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
V. THE PROBABILITY
“shall doubtless”
Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
A. Our responsibility is plain – to sow the seed
B. God’s results are promised – “doubtless” “we SHALL reap”
VI. THE PLEASURE
“with rejoicing”
1 Thessalonians 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
A. For ourselves, for God’s will has been accomplished
B. For others, because God’s wrath has been avoided
VII. THE PROOF
“bringing his sheaves with him”
John 21:10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.
A. To the church of God
1. Bring your convert physically to church for public profession and baptism
B. To the city of God – the New Jerusalem
Conclusion: Who will go, work, witness, and pray to win someone to Christ and have him down the aisle at church in the next 30 days?
