WISDOM FROM FOUR LITTLE THINGS

Scripture: Proverbs 30:24-28
Text: Proverbs 30:24
Introduction: Did you know that you can sometimes learn more by looking at bugs than by listening to people? Did you know that animals sometimes show more sense than do human beings?
I. PREPARATION
Proverbs 30:25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;
A. Prepare for the worst (this is the most obvious application of the verse)
1. Don’t spend all you earn.
2. The foolish virgins were the ones who had no oil in their lamps (Matt. 25:
B. Prepare for the winter
1. “they prepare their meat in the summer”
C. Prepare for a witness
D. Prepare for war
E. Prepare for the world to come
1. Amos 4:12 … prepare to meet thy God …
II. PROTECTION
Proverbs 30:26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
Although believers can benefit from knowing where to turn in time of danger, I want to apply this primarily to unsaved people.
A. You should realize the threat
B. You should recognize our inability
C. You should retreat to the shelter
III. PARTICIPATION
Proverbs 30:27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
A. Saved people should be part of a church
B. Saved people should be present in church
C. Saved people should be participants in a church
IV. PERSISTENCE
Proverbs 30:28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.
Salvation is not accomplished by our persistence. We are saved by grace through faith. However, success in Christian living is accomplished through persistence.
A. Failures are only temporary
B. Faithfulness is the test
1. Even a postage stamp is successful by sticking to its job until it reaches its destination.
C. The future is a triumph
