Below are notes to a sermon preached Sunday evening, Oct. 31, 1999, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, Albany, Georgia:

Text: Jude 1:4

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Introduction: The Bible warns about certain men “crept” in unawares. On this Oct. 31 Sunday, I want to bring you a message on “Creeps.” CREEPS are those who CREPT.

Dictionary definitions

Creep – verb: 1 a : to move along with the body prone and close to the ground b : to move slowly on hands and knees
2 a : to go very slowly {the hours crept by} b : to go timidly or cautiously so as to escape notice {she crept away from the festive scene}
c : to enter or advance gradually so as to be almost unnoticed {age creeps up on us} {a note of irritation crept into her voice}

Creep – noun: an unpleasant or obnoxious person

Anything that creeps is kind of spooky. When I was a child we made little bugs, spiders, and things called “creepy crawlers.” I read a horror magazine back then called “Creepy.” When something scares us, we say, “That gives me the creeps.”

Most of us don’t like things that creep, especially if they are creeping in on us while we sleep. You never know what is creeping around you or on you or in you when your eyes are closed.
Oh have you thought,
Of when you die,
Six white horses come riding by.
They wrap you up in bloody sheets,
And drop you in a hole six feet deep.

You’ll be okay for about a week,
And then the coffin begins to leak.
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
The worms play pinochle on your snout.

Then a little black bug with big blue eyes,
Goes in your mouth and out your eyes,
Your stomach turns to gooshy green,
And oozes out like fresh whipped cream.

The worms there all eat ginger bread,
‘Cause that’s what you are when you are dead.

CREEPS are those who CREPT in unawares.

I. CREEPS ARE DECEIVERS

A. Their deeds are deceitful
* “Certain men” – Benny Hinn, Jessie Duplantis,
* “ungodly men”
* They are outwardly righteous to the public
* They are inwardly full of deadness and corruption
* They are wolves in sheep’s clothing
* They appear as ministers of righteousness
* Many of them teach in religious colleges and seminaries
* Southern Baptist colleges and seminaries are full of creeps. Members of Southern Baptist churches help pay the salaries of these God-denying creeps when they tithe to a church that is a supporter of the SBC Cooperative Program. That’s why I left the SBC in 1972, never to return!

B. Their doctrine is deceitful
* “denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”
* It appears to be Christian.
* Their doctrine uses Christian terminology.

II. CREEPS ARE DREAMERS

Jude 1:8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

A. They major on visions

B. They mistake money for success
* They suppose that gain is godliness – 1 Tim. 6:5b
* Rev. Ike – “How to use your mind power to get what you want.”

III. CREEPS ARE DEFILERS

Jude 1:8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

A. They “bait” the flesh
* Always looking for an opportunity to break “the rules”

B. They are bound by sin

C. They bring others into bondage

IV. CREEPS ARE DESPISERS

Jude 1:8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

A. They rebel against the authority of heaven – the scriptures
* They hate the fact that our Bible, the King James Bible, is also known as “The Authorized Version.”

B. They rebel against authority in the home
* The man rebels against God.
* The wife rebels against the man.
* The children rebel against the parents.

V. CREEPS ARE DECEIVED

Jude 1:10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

A. They deceive others
* They are seducers

B. They are deceived themselves
* Satan has deceived them – Rev. 12:9
* The atheist is the real fool – Ps. 14:1
* The scoffer is the real fool
* The agnostic is the real fool
* The infidel is the real fool
* The liberal and modernist is the real fool
* The worshipper of counterfeit science and godless education is the real fool!
* The man who is a counterfeit Christian is the real fool

VI. CREEPS ARE DEAD

Jude 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

A. They are born faulty

B. They have bad fruit
* They don’t win converts.
* They are like queers; they can’t reproduce, so they just recruit.
* They suck off of Christian churches.
* Clouds without water — no ability to sustain life.

VII. CREEPS ARE DOOMED

Jude 1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. Jude 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, Jude 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

A. They are closed-minded to the truth

B. They are captives of Satan

C. They are condemned and headed for hell

Are you hanging around with CREEPS? (In a false church)

Trust Christ and be saved!

Come out from among them and be separate!
