IF WE DON’T WIN THEM …
Below are notes to a sermon preached Sunday evening, Feb. 14, 1999, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, Albany, Georgia:
IF WE DON’T WIN THEM …
By Michael D. O’Neal Pastor, Gospel Light Baptist Church Albany, Georgia
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:18-24
Text: 1 Corinthians 1:21
1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Introduction:
1. “Preaching” in the Bible is not always the act of standing behind a pulpit and hollering to a congregation. Philip “preached” as he witnessed to the Ethiopian eunuch one on one in the man’s vehicle (I think it was a Cadillac).
2. God has no “Plan B” for reaching the lost! He has ordained that people get saved by hearing the gospel from another believer!
3. People do NOT get saved by our lifestyle! Our life should adorn and support our witness, but it will never get people saved without someone VERBALLY presenting the gospel!
4. We must not get sidetracked as a church from our purpose: Gospel Light Baptist Church Exists Solely to Exalt the Savior as we Evangelize the Sinner and Edify the Saint
IF WE DON’T WIN THEM …
I. HAPPINESS FOR MANY WILL BE DESTROYED
Proverbs 13:15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
A. They will not know how to be saved from hell
B. They will not know how to be satisfied here
C. They will not know how to be serene in heart
D. They will not know how to be successful in hope
IF WE DON’T WIN THEM …
II. HOLINESS FOR MULTITUDES WILL BE UNKNOWN
Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
A. The lost will not be impressed
B. The leaders will not be influenced
C. The land will not be improved (by the salt of the earth)
IF WE DON’T WIN THEM …
III. HEAVEN’S MISSION WILL BE NEGLECTED
2 Corinthians 5:18-20 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
A. God uses soul-winners, not a voice from heaven
B. God uses soul-winners, not a vision
C. God uses soul-winners, not visitors from outer space
IF WE DON’T WIN THEM …
IV. HELL FOR THE MASSES WILL BE A CERTAINTY
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
A. There is no other destination for the heathen other than an eternal hell
B. There is no other deliverance provided other than God’s salvation through Christ
C. There is no other duty that will save them other than our telling people how to be saved
