Below are notes to a sermon preached Sunday morning, Aug. 22, 1999, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, Albany, Georgia:
THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN

Scripture Reading: Daniel 2:24-30
Text: Daniel 2:28
Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
Introduction: One of Daniel’s great traits was his humility. He didn’t claim to be able to interpret dreams on his own, but said “… there is a God in heaven…” I’m glad that no matter how bad the situation gets, THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN! Amen!
I. THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN WHO REVEALS SECRETS
Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
A. He reveals the secrets of success
* Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
B. He reveals the secrets of stardom
* Do you want to be a star?
* Daniel 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
C. He reveals the secrets of sin
* 1. Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
II. THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN WHO REACHES SINNERS
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
A. God cared for sinners – Jn. 3:16
B. God came down in flesh for sinners – Jn. 1:1,14
C. God, in Christ, was crucified for sinners
D. God converts sinners today
III. THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN WHO REVIVES SAINTS
Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
A. God states His requirements for revival – 2 Chron. 7:14
B. God sees the response of God’s people to His word and His Spirit
C. God sends the revival
IV. THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN WHO IS RETURNING SOON
Hebrews 10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
A. There will be a personal return
B. There will be a powerful resurrection
C. There will be a “particular” rapture
D. There will be perpetual rejoicing
