SOME THINGS THAT GOD HAS FOR YOU

By Michael D. O’Neal                      Pastor, Gospel Light Baptist Church                      Albany, Georgia

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 2:1-10

Text: 1 Corinthians 2:9

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Introduction: Our text is taken from an Old Testament verse, Isaiah 64:4.

God has prepared some things for His children. I like the promise of our Lord in John 14:1-3. We may not have SEEN with our eyes everything that God has prepared for us, but God HAS REVEALED them to us. They are found in His word. I want to briefly look at four things God has for us.

I. GOD HAS A BAG FOR YOUR TRANSGRESSIONS

Job 14:17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.

A. It is a secret bag

  • Its contents are not now known
  • GOD knows its contents!
  • Hebrews 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

B. It is a sizable bag

  • It is filled with your sins — of thought, word, and deed.

C. It is a shocking bag

  • Shocking to your friends
  • Shocking to your family
  • Shocking and shaming you when the contents are revealed

D. It is a shown bag

  • At the judgement nothing will be hid

II. GOD HAS A BRIDGE FOR YOUR TRIP

Genesis 28:10-12 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. 11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. 12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

That bridge Jacob saw was JESUS! –>

John 1:51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

A. He is a supernatural bridge

B. He is a strong bridge

C. He is a spanning bridge

  • Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

D. He is the solitary bridge

  • John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

III. GOD HAS BREAD FOR YOUR TASTE

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

A. He is heavenly bread

  • John 6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

B. He is holy bread

  • Not like that of the Catholics.

C. He is healthy bread

  • Taste the Lord, and see!
  • Try Him out!
  • Bread is called “the staff of life.”
  • Jesus is ETERNAL LIFE!

IV. GOD HAS A BOTTLE FOR YOUR TEARS

Psalms 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

A. God sees your tears

B. God saves your tears

  • They are valuable!
  • Your most valuable times are your valleys, not your mountains.

C. God sympathizes with your tears
