TOAD-FROG CHRISTIANS

Text: Hebrews 5:13
Hebrews 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
Introduction: Toads are a particular kind of frog that prefer to live on moist land than in the water.
Question: How far out in water does a toad-frog go? Answer: “knee-DEEP, knee-DEEP …” 🙂
Many Christians are just like that. They are saved, but they just hang around the edges. They’re scared to jump in and get wet. They have no spiritual depth. They may have been saved for a long time, but they are your “spiritual church babies.”
ARE YOU A TOAD-FROG CHRISTIAN?
I’m going to give some characteristics of a Toad-Frog Christian, and you can examine yourself today.
I. TOAD-FROG CHRISTIANS ARE SHALLOW IN DOCTRINE

1 Corinthians 3:1-2 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
A. Unable to discern truth from error
B. Unable to divide the word of truth rightly
C. Unable to deliver sound doctrine to others
II. TOAD-FROG CHRISTIANS ARE SHALLOW IN DEVOTIONS
Isaiah 64:7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.
A. Not much time in seeking God in prayer
B. Not much thought on the scriptures
C. Not much trying to be a soul-winner
D. Not much trust in the Savior
III. TOAD-FROG CHRISTIANS ARE SHALLOW IN DREAMS
Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
A. About Christ
B. About their church
C. About their children
D. About their calling in life
