Behold The Lamb Of God In The Book Of Revelation

BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION

Scripture Reading: Revelation 5:1-7

Text: Revelation 5:6

Revelation 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

Introduction: Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is compared to both a lamb and a lion. As a lamb, He is our Redeemer and sacrifice. As a lion, He is the coming ruler of the world. You would think, then, that references to the Lamb would be limited to primarily the First coming of Christ and those to the Lion of the tribe of Judah to the Second coming of Christ.

Such is not the case. The book of Revelation is primarily about the SECOND coming of Christ, and it refers to Him more often as the Lamb than as the Lion. Tonight I want you to join me as we

BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION

I. BEHOLD THE SONG OF THE LAMB

Revelation 5:8-10 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. 9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

A. A song of praise – “thou art worthy”

B. A song of pardon – “thou hast redeemed us”

C. A song of power – “and hast made us kings and priests”

II. BEHOLD THE SEALS AND SEVERITY OF THE LAMB

Revelation 6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

Revelation 6:16-17 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

A. Behold the Lamb’s worthiness to open the seals

B. Behold the Lamb’s wrath in opening the seals

III. BEHOLD THE SUPREMACY OF THE LAMB

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

He is able to overcome:

A. Our adversary the devil – 1 Peter 5:8

B. The armies of this world – Revelation 17:14

IV. BEHOLD THE SPOUSE OF THE LAMB

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

A. She will be a prepared spouse

B. She will be a privileged spouse

V. BEHOLD THE SUPPER OF THE LAMB

Revelation 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

A. A supper is for food! 🙂

B. A supper is for fellowship

C. A supper is for FAMILY! Amen!

VI. BEHOLD THE SHINING OF THE LAMB

Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

A. Jesus is the essential light

B. Jesus is the eternal light

VII. BEHOLD THE SERVICE OF THE LAMB

Revelation 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

A. Service is Christian

  • That is what “ministry” means

B. Service is continuous

  • “His servants shall serve him” in eternity
