THE POPULATION OF HELL

Text: Isaiah 5:14
Isaiah 5:14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
Introduction: Tonight I want you to once again consider with me the subject of hell.
The Bible says a lot about hell.
The Bible contains the word “hell” in 54 verses.
“Baptism” occurs in only 22 verses.
“tithe” is only found in 13 verses.
There is not enough preaching on the subject of hell. I’ve brought messages to you this year on the possibility of hell and on the preparation of hell. Tonight I want to talk to you about THE POPULATION OF HELL.
It appears that MOST people will die and go to hell.
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
What kind of people are going to make up this place called hell?
Tonight I want to bring you a message called
THE POPULATION OF HELL
I. HELL IS POPULATED BY THE UNGODLY
Psalms 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
People of:
A. Ungodly talking
B. Ungodly thinking
C. Ungodly temper
D. Ungodly tastes – perverts
II. HELL IS POPULATED BY THE UNBELIEVING
Luke 12:5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
People who didn’t believe the warning about Hurricane Katrina are going to suffer loss tomorrow. Some will die.
People who won’t believe the warning about hell and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ will die and go to hell. These people:
A. Cling to self-righteousness
B. Covet pleasure and good times
1. Jn. 3:19
C. Continue under condemnation
1. Jn. 3:18
III. HELL IS POPULATED BY THE UNWILLING
Proverbs 15:24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.
A. Unwilling to take time to listen to the gospel
B. Unwilling to taste the goodness of God
C. Unwilling to trust the Lord Jesus Christ
IV. HELL IS POPULATED BY THE UNHAPPY
2 Samuel 22:6 The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;
A. People in hell are unhappy because of the pain
1. Luke 16:23-24 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send
Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
B. People in hell are unhappy because of the permanence
C. People in hell are unhappy because of their past influence
1. Family
2. Friends
3. Loved ones
I’ve spoken to you on the subject of the Population of Hell.

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
