Scripture Reading: Job 19:21-29
Text: Job 19:25
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Introduction: For a few years now we have been going through the Bible looking for Jesus. We started in Genesis 1 and found Him there. We continued through the Old Testament and we are now in the book of Job. We should read the book of Job and endeavor to learn the lessons Job learned. The Bible tells us that. However, we should also read the book of Job and look for
JESUS!
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Tonight we continue to hold the kind of Bible study that the Lord Himself held after His resurrection with two of His discouraged disciples:
Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
In our text we see a statement by Job that points directly at our Savior. We don’t know how much Job understood of the coming of the Son of God and His work of redemption. However, we do know that this verse is a clear prophecy of the Lord Jesus Christ, our living Redeemer.
Tonight’s message is titled,
MY REDEEMER LIVETH
Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
I. HIS LIFE IS THE PUZZLE OF ETERNITY
John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
A. He is before everything in time
B. He is beyond everything in time
C. He is better than everything in time
They come and go:
1. Fortune comes and goes
2. Fame comes and goes
3. Finances come and go
4. Fun comes and goes
II. HIS LIFE IS HIS PERSONAL TITLE
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
A. He is the life of all creation – Jn. 1:3
1. The firstborn of every creature
2. The beginning of the creation of God
3. The One who breathed life into Adam
B. He is the life of a Christian – 1 Jn. 5:12
C. He is the life of a church – Rev. 3:1,20
III. HIS LIFE IS PROOF OF HIS DEITY
Romans 1:3-4 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
Because Jesus is God,
A. He had power over death
B. He had power over the dirt
C. He had power over the doubters
D. He had power over the devil!
IV. HIS LIFE IS PART OF THE GOSPEL
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
2 Timothy 2:8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
A. His life was sacrificial – voluntarily given
B. His life was substitutionary – vicariously given
C. His life was sinless
1. The just died for the unjust
2. The spotless Lamb of God
D. His life was seen again – three days and nights later.
I say with Job, “My Redeemer liveth!”
He lives today!
He saves souls today!
He answers prayers today!
He may return today!
